16 String Bending Licks You Must Know
In this lesson, I show 16 licks, each with a unique string bending technique. All the licks are played using the A minor pentatonic scale, but the idea is that you can take the ideas here, and translate them to other scales and keys.
I love bending! It is something that can only be done on stringed instruments, so it is something you should take advantage of on the guitar. Bending is incredibly expressive, and opens up a lot of creative possibilities.
I cover a lot of ideas here, many of which are used by famous guitarists. There I ideas that I pulled from Jimi Hendrix, Guthrie Govan, Joe Bonamassa, and classic blues guys like Albert King and B.B. King.
Some licks are fairly challenging, while others are pretty straightforward. Some require some left hand techniques, and bending strength that you may not be used to. That means a lot of these licks make for good hand strengthening exercises.
Each lick shows more than just the bending – I thought that would be too boring. So, each of these licks shows other ideas outside of the bending part. You should be able to get a lot out of them outside of the pure bending.
Play through these licks, and I’m sure you’ll get some ideas that you haven’t seen before. Thanks for watching!
